The maturation of optical coherence tomography (OCT) hardware has encouraged the development of techniques which use quantitative and computational models to retrieve sample-specific information, or to simply acquire a clearer image. This Collection brings together original Articles which exploit realistic mathematical models of OCT image formation to obtain insight not otherwise available from raw OCT images. This includes research using techniques such as parametric attenuation imaging, local birefringence retrieval, full-wave modelling, computational adaptive optics, flow and displacement measurement, elastography and inverse scattering.
