Response to the Commentary on “Intermediate-term results of TachoSil grafting to correct residual curvature during inflatable penile prosthesis implantation in patients with Peyronie’s disease”

The Commentary on the Original Article in the International Journal of Impotence Research “Intermediate-term results of TachoSil grafting to correct residual curvature during inflatable penile prosthesis implantation in patients with Peyronie’s disease” deals with the novel collagen fleece TachoSil (Corza Medical, MA, USA) as grafting material in Peyronie’s disease (PD) reconstructive surgery [1, 2].

First encouraging results and in detail presentation of the surgical technique in a large group of patients with PD on the grafting technique with the collagen fleece TachoSil were published in 2013 by Hatzichristodoulou et al. [3]. This was a series of 63 patients with good erectile function who underwent grafting surgery with TachoSil for curvature correction due to PD, without implantation of a penile implant [3]. The novel and very interesting collagen fleece, that was used in this study, attracted attention and lead to further research and clinical studies in this field of urology. Since then, the collagen fleece TachoSil has been used by a variety of clinical research groups around the world in PD reconstructive surgery, without and with concomitant implantation of penile implants.
