Peri-implantitis diagnosis: insights from UK dental practitioners

PI is the inflammation of soft tissue around the implant with loss of supporting bone corresponding to periodontitis in natural teeth. With clinical features such as marginal bone loss, bleeding on probing and/or suppuration, and deepening of peri-implant pockets, PI accounts for a significant proportion of the reasons for the failure of implants. According to Pedro Diaz et al. (2022),1 the prevalence of PI was 19.53% at the patient level and 12.53% at the implant level, even after following restrictions to clinical case definition.
