HA-35 kDa strengthens the epithelial barrier by altering tight junction expression and reducing bacterial translocation in murine NEC. HA-35kDa could also protect against NEC by enhancing antimicrobial peptide production, thereby altering the intestinal microbial milieu, and by negatively regulating TLR4 signaling.1
