Congenital tuberculosis is an uncommon disease and produces intrauterine infections in exceptional cases. OBJECTIVES: To emphasize that early diagnosis and adequate treatment improve survival in neonatal tuberculosis.MATERIAL AND METHODS: We reviewed the published papers in the last 32 years, and we report 2 additional patients: one born in the Maternidad de Lima's Hospital and the other in the San Juan de Dios Hospital.

CONCLUSIONS: 1. Epidemiological antecedents are very important in low socioeconomic population without any antepartum assessment. 2. Tuberculosian hematogenous placentitis has high mortality. 3. The surviving newborns are the result of accurate diagnosis and early treatment.
