P. aeruginosa forms biofilm-like cell aggregates on epithelial cells

To mimic biofilm formation in vivo, the authors infected epithelial cells with P. aeruginosa and observed the formation of bacterial aggregates that exhibited key characteristics of biofilms, including the presence of extracellular matrix components (such as extracellular DNA and exopolysaccharides) and increased resistance to antibiotics compared with planktonic bacteria.
