The winning image of this month's Nature Cell Biology and Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology 'Cell of the Month' competition was submitted by Anna Cariboni (University of Milan, Italy (anna.cariboni@unimi.it)). It shows microtubules in mouse neurons.
Immortalized mouse neuroendocrine neurons (GN11 cells) were labelled using a fusion protein containing green fluorescent protein (GFP) and a microtubule-associated protein (doublecortin). Nuclei are stained blue. The image was obtained using a Zeiss Axioscope 2 microscope with a x43 immersion oil objective. Bar, 5 μm.
The winner would like to thank Fiona Francis (Institute Cochin, Paris, France) for the GFP–doublecortin probe and to acknowledge the support of Roberto Maggi (University of Milan, Italy).
