The winning image of this month's Nature Cell Biology and Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology 'Cell of the Month' competition was submitted by Lia Scotti Campos (The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Wellcome Trust Genome Campus, Cambridge, UK (lsc@sanger.ac.uk)). It shows differentiating mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells.

Differentiating mouse ES cells were fixed and stained to highlight immature neurons (red), glial cells (green) and nuclei (blue). The image was obtained using a Zeiss Axioplan 2 microscope and SmartCapture 2 software. Bar, 30 μm.

The winner would like to acknowledge the help of Bill Skarnes and Nigel Carter (both at The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, UK).
