Major rearrangement in the human β-globin gene cluster

Abstract

A form of δβ-thalassaemia results from a major chromosomal rearrangement involving the β-globin gene cluster which includes an inversion of the entire sequence between the Aγ- and δ-globin genes and two deletions.
