Abstract
THE rapid disappearance of endogenous neurohypophysial hormones from the peripheral circulatory system has led many workers to study the mode of inactivation and site of degradation of these polypeptide hormones. Extracts of kidney1, liver2,3, pancreas4, uterus5, myometrium6, ovaries7 and brain and hypothalamic tissue8 have all been investigated for their ability to destroy the biological activity of oxytocin and vasopressin.
