Abstract
IN the autumn of 1973 seismic signals were recorded from three underground nuclear explosions on Novaya Zemlya in the Arctic Ocean. Two of these explosions were located at a new site on the southwestern part of Novaya Zemlya. The explosion on October 27 at the new site was followed by a suit of 10 small events, all of which occurred within 4 h of the explosion. Here we give the locations of the explosions and the afterevents based on data from Nordic and North American stations and the discrimination results based on shortperiod data obtained at the Hagfors Observatory1 (HFS) in Sweden.
