Selective Binding of Ribosomes to Initiation Sites on Single-stranded DNA from Bacterial Viruses

Abstract

Bacterial ribosomes can bind to initiation sites on single-stranded DNA acting as messenger. Factors are synthesized during phage development which are required for binding to late gene sites but not to early gene sites. They may be involved in the control of translation.
