Model for Quantitative and Qualitative Control of mRNA Translation in Eukaryotes

Abstract

IN a recent communication by Griffith and Mahler1 dealing with a ticketing theory of memory, the authors mentioned that their model stemmed from a hypothesis previously advanced by us in order to account for certain features of the process of translation in eukaryotic cells. This hypothesis has been briefly noted2 but not adequately described and is therefore presented here in detail.
