Abstract
WE wish to report a potential method for the treatment of malignant melanomas which, unlike others that have been proposed1,2, is independent of melanin content or tyrosinase activity in the tumours. The double-stranded homopolymer, polyinosinic–polycytidylic acid (poly I. poly C), given parenterally, has been shown to inhibit the growth of several malignant murine tumours3,4. We sought to determine whether poly I.poly C is also active against amelanotic murine malignant melanoma.
