Abstract
STIMULATION of unspecific thalamus (with the exception of the nucleus reticularis and the dorsal portion of nucleus centralis lateralis) produces recruiting responses not only in the ipsilateral but also in the contralateral cortex1–7. The present investigations demonstrate that a conditioning stimulus in the unspecific thalamus on one side produces a suppression of the recruiting potential triggered by test stimulation of the contralateral unspecific thalamus.
