Abstract
SATELLITE lines, situated on the long wavelength side of the He-like resonance lines in laboratory plasmas, are classified here as transitions in highly excited Li-like ions. We also show that intense features in the solar X-ray spectrum, of similar appearance, are of different origin, and these are classified as the forbidden ls2 1S0–ls2s 3S1 line of the He-like ion.
