Shrinkage and Thermal Expansion of a Two Phase Material

Abstract

THE problem of deducing theoretically the shrinkage of a two phase composite material in terms of the properties of its components has been considered by Pickett1 and by Hansen and Nielsen2. They were specifically interested in concrete, but the problem has a wider application and is also identical with the problem of deducing the coefficient of thermal expansion for a similar material.
