Isolation of Chlorpromazine Pigments in Man

Abstract

OCULOCUTANEOUS pigmentation occurs in man during long-term chlorpromazine therapy1,2, diffuse purple pigmentation of the skin of the face, neck and dorsum of the hands being the most characteristic finding. The distribution and intensity of the skin pigmentation correlate with exposure to sunlight. Corneal and lenticular opacities are frequently also present in these patients1.
