Abstract
5-HYDROXYTRYPTAMINE (5-HT) injected into cisterna magna penetrates into brain and is converted to 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) which can easily leave the brain tissue1,2. We have tried to elucidate the mechanism of the passage of 5-HT from the subarachnoid space into the brain.
