Biological Activity of Synthetic 1–39 Human Corticotropin

Abstract

BAJUSZ et al. have reported the synthesis of human corticotropin with residues 1–39 (ref. 1). Assayed by the adrenal ascorbic acid method, the biological activity of corticotropin prepared from human pituitary was found to be 26 IU/mg by Lee et al.2. Using an in vitro method, Li3 found a similar natural product possessing an activity of 52 IU/mg. Later, Ney et al.4 assayed a highly purified natural human corticotropin and found an activity of 133 IU/mg.
