Abstract
VALUES of ΔGass (Table 1) have been measured for the reactions where L− is OH− or F− and ML2+ are the hydroxyl complexes of the cations Ti3+ to Co3+ or the fluoride complexes of Fe3+ and Cr3+. Here a correlation is demonstrated between a function involving ΔGass and ΔGredox for the overall electron-transfer process which indicates a charge-transfer structure for the associated species, M3+L−↔M2+L.
