Degradation of the Filamentous Phage ZJ/2 by Sodium Dodecylsulphate

Abstract

WE have observed that the filamentous male-specific coliphage ZJ/2 (ref. 1) is particularly susceptible to attack by sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS) in the presence of sodium chloride. The protein coat of the virus is stripped off and DNA is released.
