Abstract
N-ACETYL-β-glucosaminidase is a lysosomal enzyme found in a variety of mammalian tissues. Its distribution and localization have been described by several workers1–4. Like many of the recently described lysosomal enzymes, its biological function is not yet known. During attempts in our laboratory to induce this enzyme in rat liver, a marked variation in the amount of enzyme in normal rat livers was found. This variation seemed to have a constant relationship with the age of the animal and liver weight, higher levels of enzyme being obtained in the younger animals and smaller livers.
