The “Berlin” Warming

Abstract

The stratospheric warming over Central Europe in February 1952 was accompanied by changes in the electron density of the mesosphere. These phenomena seem to arise from changes in the atmospheric circulation which affect mesospheric pressure, temperature and composition.
