Abstract
THE hot brines at the bottom of the Red Sea have been previously studied from research vessels Atlantis II1,4, Discovery2,3 and Meteor5. During October and November 1966, R/V Chain of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution was available for intensive exploration of the Red Sea, and the temperature–salinity–oxygen structure of the water is reported on here.
