Increase of Lysosomal Enzymes in Skin Cancers

Abstract

THE function of the lysosome in the pathogenesis of cancer is unknown. In the normal cell these cytoplasmic structures bound to the membrane are thought to be constituents of an intracellular digestive system. Exogenous material that will eventually be digested is engulfed by a cell membrane1. These newly formed lysosomes are thought to be long lived structures involved in numerous digestive events.
