Abstract
WE have recently shown that the intraperitoneal injection of reduced insulin B chain complexed with an equal amount of crystalline bovine serum albumin produces a significant hyperglycaemia in normal rats1. In accordance with the theory proposed by Ensinck, Mahler and Vallance-Owen2 we assume that this effect is due to the inhibition of endogenous insulin, activity by the complex of reduced insulin B chain and albumin.
