Abstract
LEAD tetraacetate oxidation of sugar derivatives containing a thiocarbonyl group was shown previously to give the corresponding carbonates, disulphides, or oxythiocarbonyl derivatives, depending on the structure of the parent compound1. To determine more fully the effect of oxidants on the thiocarbonyl group, the investigation has been extended to the reactions of cyclohexene trithiocarbonate (I) with lead tetraacetate, silver nitrate, and potassium permanganate.
