Nature of the Twinning in the Lower Strontium Soaps

Abstract

Morley and Vand1 have proposed the space group P21/n for strontium laurate. During the investigation of the structure of strontium caprylate I found2 that the crystals were all twinned and upper-layer Weissenberg and precession photographs showed conclusively that the crystals were triclinic with the remarkable feature of β* = 90°.
