Handbook on Genetically Standardized JAX Mice (Bar Harbor Times, Bar Harbor, Maine, 1962).
Within a few minutes of intraperitoneal injection of tritiated thymidine into mice, their urines become highly radioactive. Within 1 h activity falls to a fraction of this value, approaching background levels. Splenic-biopsies 15 min after injection show a level of activity that is maintained in biopsies taken 30 and 90 min later. Thus, it would appear that label is available for a brief interval after administration and that a single injection closely approximates a pulse. These observations were made by Strossberg and Pietsch, 1962 (unpublished), and incidental to the present investigation.
