Abstract
Alexakos and Cornwell1 have recently measured the F19 shielding constant σClF in chlorine mono-fluoride, ClF, and they found that the shielding is greater in ClF than in F−. Three values of F19 shielding constants in diatomic molecules are now available, and they are shown in Table 1 together with the value1 for free F−. This value is subject to some uncertainty, most measurements obtained in compounds of F− being somewhat lower2. The correct value is unlikely to exceed that shown in Table 1.
