Abstract
IN an X-ray diffraction study of Cu2Se, it has been found by Rahlf's1 that it has a face-centred cubic structure at room temperature with lattice spacing a = 4.7586 Å. The structure with this lattice spacing remains stable up to 110° C, above which it transforms to face-centred cubic with lattice spacing a = 4.85179Å. A structural study of Ag2S in the bulk state has been made by Ramsdell2 and others3,4. Ramsdell has pointed out that Ag2S has a monoclinic structure at room temperature. But Kracek3 later showed that the stable structure of Ag2S at room temperature is not monoclinic but orthorhombic with lattice spacings: a = 4.759 Å; b = 7.124 Å; c= 6.883 Å.
