Immuno-clinical Classification of Staphylococcus pyogenes aureus

Abstract

EXPERIMENTAL pyelonephritis in animals and clinical pyelonephritis in man have been under serious investigation at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center for the past decade. We have been publishing and presenting scientific exhibits at various time-intervals. In 1958, an immunological approach for the possible diagnosis of pyelonephritis in man was undertaken because, bacteriuria being intermittent, the urine culture in such patients was often negative, and no abnormal urinary and radiological changes were demonstrable, particularly early during the course of this disease.
