Operative Use of Ultrasonics in Cholelithiasis

Abstract

WE have previously1,2 reported an attempt to detect gall stones in the common bile duct at operation using ultrasonics. The echo-sounding technique used gave results which were considered too unreliable to be of value to the surgeon.
