Serological Demonstration of Antigenic Heterogeneity of Individual Human γ1-Macroglobulins

Abstract

DIFFERENCES in the serum proteins of humans ascribed to a genetic basis have been well established for γ2-globulins1,2, transferrins and haptoglobins3, β1-lipoproteins4, an α2-globulin referred to as the Gc system5, and choline esterases6. It appears that all the serum proteins will eventually be found to show genetic variations. So far no such differences among individuals appears to have been noted which are unique to the γ1-A or the γ1-macroglobulins (γ1-M), the other antibody active proteins of serum.
