Abstract
HISTOLOGICAL analyses following prolonged reserpine administration show changes in the pituitary, thyroid1, adrenals2, ovaries3 and testes4. With alteration in any of the foregoing, changes in sexual behaviour would presumably follow. Experimental evidence, however, of the effects of reserpine on sexual behaviour is limited. Studies of short duration have the disadvantage that most observed histological changes take weeks or even longer to occur. In addition, reserpine appears to induce ACTH release initially which ceases on prolonged administration5,6.
