Submicroscopic Structure of the Peritrophic Membrane in Arthropods

Abstract

A PERITROPHIC membrane, in the form of loosely connected concentric layers of substance wrapping the ingesta, has long been described in the mid-gut of different classes of arthropods (insects, myriapods, Crustacea and onychophora).
