Abstract
IT has been recently reported1 that hydrogen atoms produced by the action of microwave discharge on hydrogen gas can react with solid carbon only when the latter is in the plasma. Similar observations have been made independently in this laboratory. The results of these and subsequent experiments have led to a possible mechanism for the participation of carbon in such a system.
