Abstract
LATHYRISM was first produced experimentally more than a quarter of a century ago (Geiger et al., 1933) by feeding rats seeds of the flowering sweet pea, Lathyrus odoratus. Since then various chemicals have been tested for their lathyrogenic activity including semicarbazide hydrochloride, the drug used in this experiment.
