Abstract
IT is known that a counter-current system exists in kidney1–3 due to the fact that the concentration of some materials in the medulla is greater than in the cortex and that this concentration increases from the base towards the tip of the papilla. This type of dislocation was proved in chlorides4, sodium2,5,6, urea2,6, exogenous creatine2, and amino-acids2. On the other hand, potassium, calcium, magnesium and inorganic phosphorus do not favour this type of distribution2.
