Transfer of Immediate (Anaphylactic) Hypersensitivity by Homologous Bone Marrow or Spleen Cells

Abstract

IT has been repeatedly shown that lymph node cells from immunized donors transferred to irradiated recipients can transfer a specific antibody production and immunity state1–3. We postulated that by implanting cells from a hyper-sensitized donor into a recipient made tolerant by whole-body irradiation, it would be possible to transfer the immediate type of hypersensitive state. The present experiments demonstrate that the anaphylactic state can be obtained by transplantation of homologous bone marrow or spleen cells from sensitized donor guinea pigs into whole-body irradiated homologous recipients.
