Abstract
FOUR different peroxidase enzymes have been found in mammalian organisms: lactoperoxidase, myeloperoxidase, hepatic tryptophan peroxidase and labile peroxidase of the thyroid gland. There is insufficient knowledge of the physiological significance of these enzymes for animal organisms. This applies especially to the myeloperoxidase found in the granules of leucocytes1,2.
