Gravitational and Electrostatic Forces

Abstract

IN a recent communication1, it was pointed out that dimensional difficulties met with in the usual gravitational equation F = GM2L−2, where F is the attractive force and G the gravitational constant, are avoided if the mass of a body is replaced by N1e, where N1 is the number of positive (or negative) charges contained in the body and e is the elementary charge. It then follows that for two bodies placed a distance r apart and containing N1 and N2 charges, respectively, FN1N2e2r−2.
