Abstract
Bottura and Ferrari1 have described recently a rapid technique for the cytological preparation of human chromosomes, which involves intravenous injections of deacetylmethylcolchicine 2 hr. prior to a sternal marrow puncture. The marrow is then treated with hypotonic citrate, hydrolysed and stained. As they rightly point out, there are some advantages in this rapid technique over the short- or long-term tissue culture.
