Abstract
IT has been found that aqueous mercuric chloride reacts with the enol-ether double bond of plasmalogen1 to form a mercury-organic compound. This reaction clarifies the mercuric chloride catalysis in the Feulgen-Voit-Schiff identification of plasmalogen2.
