Abstract
HALF-WAVE potentials of aromatic hydrocarbons have been plotted graphically against calculated energies of the lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals, localization energies of one or two positions in the molecule and spectroscopic data1–6. Various linear relationships were discovered during these attempts to correlate reduction potential with some fundamental quantity related to molecular structure.
