Abstract
IN a recent article, Merson and King-Hele1 state that the inclination of the orbit of satellite 1957β decreased by about 0.15° during its life and that this could not be accounted for by any effect of the Earth's ellipticity. The decrease appears to be a consequence of the cross-wind produced by the Earth's rotation.
