Abstract
THE existence of nitrides of the compositions Si3N4, Si3N2, SiN1and Ge3N4, Ge3N2 2 has been reported in the literature. The formation of two nitrides of silicon by nitriding the metal at about 1,400° C. has been reported recently3,4; Turkdogan and Ignatowicz state that one has the composition Si3N4 and that the other is a lower nitride, of composition very close to Si3N4.
