Abstract
THE oxidation of straight-chain aliphatic hydrocarbons by a soil Corynebacterium sp. has been described previously1. The present communication demonstrates that the rate of hydrocarbon oxidation by washed suspensions may be stimulated markedly by potassium ions, which, however, have little effect on the oxidation-rate of possible intermediates.
