Abstract
CATION-EXCHANGE resins have proved suitable as adsorbents for chromatographing a number of proteins (see a review by Zittle1). Last year, however, Sober and Peterson2 reported the use of an anion-exchanger as an adsorbent in protein chromatography. These authors used ‘DEAE-Polycel’ (prepared from cellulose) for the chromatographic purification of kidney amidase and some other enzymes. The purpose of the present communication is to describe another system for anion-exchange chromatography of proteins which appears to be useful for a number of rather different proteins.
